Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways sign MoU with Tuniu

Tourism Fiji in partnership with Fiji Airways enhances cooperation in the tourism sector through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Tuniu on June 27.

Tuniu is a leading online leisure travel company in China that offers a large selection of packaged tours, including organized and self-guided tours, as well as travel-related services for leisure travelers through its website and mobile platform.

Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Fiji, Matthew Stoeckel said,

“China is already Fiji’s fourth largest market and has significant potential to further contribute towards Fiji’s tourism economy. Our success in the market has come through collaborations with trade partners in China and the development of a closer strategic partnership with Tuniu has been a long time in the making.”

The cooperation is aimed at increasing tourist arrivals from China to Fiji through strengthening purchasing channel integration to optimize allocation of Fiji tourism resources, and the organisations will work together to offer more comprehensive travel products for Chinese travelers.

Tourism Fiji Regional Manager in Greater China, Vincent Zheng said,

“This is just the beginning of a very fruitful relationship especially when we had direct instruction from the two parties to enhance collaboration and partnership in all fields. We will leverage Tuniu’s online and offline network including website, mobile APP and on-ground network, to better target the China market, with the intention to increase awareness of Fiji’s travel products and bring more Chinese visitors to Fiji.”

Commenting on the strategic cooperation, Vice President of Tuniu, Bruce Wang said,

“Fiji is of great significance as a natural extension of the Belt and Road Initiative on the South Pacific route, and Fiji is also a popular choice for Chinese outbound tourists. With years of accumulation in the holiday market, Tuniu has a leading market share in Fiji. Tuniu will cooperate with Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways in tourism product development, resource procurement, marketing and other aspects.

With the rich online and offline channels of Tuniu, we will enhance recognition of Fiji and jointly provide Chinese tourists with more diversified Fiji tourism products and a better travel experience.”

Mr. Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO says:

“Our joint partnership with Tuniu will give us 12 months of Fiji Airways and Fiji brand awareness across China through a multi-channel approach.”

Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways and Tuniu will endeavor to work collaboratively to enhance Fiji’s travel-related information on Tuniu’s portal by leveraging both parties’ latest marketing activities, to profile Fiji’s travel products and run attractive promotions for visiting Fiji. And the two parties will also share related media resources to increase the opportunities of co-marketing Fiji and related travel products in China.
