International Flights to Fiji

Fiji Airways (Fiji’s national carrier) has direct flights to Auckland, Brisbane, Christchurch, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Melbourne, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney and Wellington.

Fiji Airways has code-share arrangements with Qantas Airways, Alaska Airlines and other major carriers.

Other international airlines that fly into Fiji include Air New Zealand, Korean Air, Jetstar Airways, Virgin Australia, Air Niugini, Air Vanuatu, Air Calin and Nauru Airlines

US & Canada

Fiji Airways flies direct from Fiji to Los Angeles and San Francisco. It’s the only way to fly non stop to Fiji between North America and, also flies between Nadi and Hawaii. (Depending on the day, the HNL flight may stop in Apia or Kiribati).

Fiji is about 6 1/2 hours from Hawaii and about 10 ½ hours from the West Coast. Fares from the US vary greatly depending on the season and ticket restrictions.

Australia

Australia is the most connected destination to Fiji.

The competition means you’re going to get the best deals out of Oz. Qantas, Fiji Airways, Virgin Australia and Jetstar all operate routes out of Australia. There are direct flights from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane to Fiji. Flight time is approximately four hours from Sydney and 4½ hours from Melbourne.

New Zealand

Kiwis have three choices: fly Fiji Airways from Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch or, fly with either Air New Zealand or Qantas out of Auckland.

The flight time between Nadi and Auckland is three hours.

Asia

Travel to and from Fiji to Asia is serviced by Korean Air and Fiji Airways which has direct flights to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

UK & Europe

When travelling from the UK or Europe there are two options: fly via either Honolulu or Los Angeles into the US where you can pick up a connecting Fiji Airways flight, or, via Hong Kong or Seoul in Asia and pick up a connecting Korea Air or Fiji Airways flight. Another popular route is to buy a Qantas or Air Pacific (Fiji Airways) flight to either Australia or New Zealand with a stopover in Fiji.

Fiji Airways operates in the following Pacific capitals: Port Vila (Vanuatu), Honiara (Solomon Islands), Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea), Nuku’alofa (Tonga), Apia (Samoa), South Tarawa (Kiribati), Funafuti (Tuvalu), as well as Honolulu, Hawaii.

Pacific island nations’ airlines that fly directly to Fiji are Air Vanuatu (from Port Vila, Vanuatu), Aircalin (from Noumea, New Caledonia), Solomon Airlines (from Honiara, Solomon islands) and Air Niugini (from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea).

Ticketing Tips

When purchasing tickets note that:

  • High-season travel to Fiji is between April and October, as well as Christmas and the New Year’s holidays.
  • Fares peak between April and June, and in December and January.
  • Fiji is a popular destination for Australians and New Zealanders during their respective school holidays in these countries. These are high travel periods in Fiji.

Fiji International Airports

Nadi International Airport (NAN) is located 9km north of central Nadi. Nausori Airport, about 23km northeast of Suva, is used primarily for domestic flights, but also has a limited number of international connections, mostly from regional airlines.

The government of Fiji has recently completed a nearly three year airport upgrade project to the tune of F$129 million. The features of the newly improved Nadi International Airport include:

  • A water cooled chiller system, state of the art fire, ICT and security facilities.
  • Nadi International Airport is the first airport in the South Pacific to receive Airport Carbon Accreditation.
  • New parking facilities
  • Covered two lane departures drop off area
  • Departures terminal ceiling height raised by 8 meters
  • Floor space in the departures terminal expanded by 4,000 sq metres
  • Check in counters increased to 38
  • Self-check in counters
