Tropical Cyclone Tomas departing Fiji

After a very slow entrance into the north of Fiji TC Tomas is now making a rapid exit from southern Fiji waters as it moves SSE at 28kmph away from Fiji. At 6pm this evening the centre of TC Tomas was nearing Ono i Lau and still packing winds of hurricane force. The cyclone is now undergoing a process of extra tropical transition, where by the warm core and the eye are replaced by a cold core.
