Call me a closet royalist but I love this film which depicts the the December 17 1953 visit of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to Fiji. This was the beginning of their three day sojourn, which was only the fourth tour that Queen Elizabeth had undertaken since becoming Queen in February 1952.
The pomp and circumstance doesn't get any greater in Fiji and probably hasn't been seen since.
The New Zealand National Film Unit were responsible for making the official film of the Royal Visit for the government of Fiji. The National Film Unit was established to publicize New Zealand's participation and achievements during the Second World War.
