Tours to Fiji by Rob Kay? Anyone interested?

Indulge me this once. I need to take an informal  poll of Fijiguide.com members.  I'm thinking that it might be fun to do private tours of Fiji led by yours truly perhaps quarterly.  The question is,…Continue

Kudos to Kai Hall.  What a cool little use of the Go Pro. Never been that waterfall before.  Really touching little vid when combined with the musical track.  Have Kai get a hold of me so I can personally thank him.  Will embed…

Really enjoyed the video.  Great insights into the life of a cane farmer.  These guys work very hard for about US$50 a week.  Not a great deal being a cane farmer.

Bula Greg, Thanks for the update.  Just out of curiosity, which law firm did you use? The next phase will be a challenge. You'd best be there when they build.   Maybe wait till you have the time.   best of luck Rob

Fiji Begins Clean Up from Flooding

Fijiguide has had email reports from one Nadi resident that "Nadi is definitely getting back to normal and the town was cleaned yesterday. The town was apparently "buzzing with traffic and people". However, she said, a strong "stench" was still present.  Weather is now fine, she added.  "For the past two days, we have had beautiful sunshine."In other news, received this release from Pacific Islands Report, the daily online news publication of the Pacific Islands Development Program at the…See More

Rob, this site is really great. I love how interactive and user friendly it is. Lots of great info and pics. I assume once it goes live you won't have to join as a member to look around - That's just for making comments and joining groups, right?

Yeah Rob
I've been a contributor since 2001. Often posted comments on Octopus Resort (my favourite) plus life in Fiji in general, following a 2 year work assignment I had there in 2001/2002.
My handle was BruceHG and later BruceG.
Congratulations on your new format. I hope the contributions build back up to what they were 5 years ago.
Regards
Bruce Golder

You've nailed me Rob! Yes I'm the engineer. Built a factory for Nestle at Ba and moved a Maggi 2 minute Noodles Line from Auckland. Look out for the factory on the right as you approach Ba before the river. Have lots of memories and stories to tell of my experiences arpund Viti Levu and the inner islands. Hven't visited for 3 years but will be back. Have you contacted Marilyn in NZ?

Hi Rob
I' a bit slow finding my way around the site - if I want to add content about resorts do I just do it as a blog? I would like to update your info about Octopus, and add some about their new sister resort on Nacula - which was originally Nalova Bay Resort, that does not operate any more so needs to be deleted from the Yasawa accommodations. Would appreciate some instructions!

Bula Robert,
I have a residence in Cardiff-by-the-Sea which is just north of San Diego, CA. I was an Electrical Contractor but sold the Company last year to pursue other interests which included building a home on the Coral Coast just a few minutes East of Hideaways.Spent the last year on the project which is nearly completed. Back in the States now until January

Hi Robert,

Yes, we plan on trying out full time living in fiji with 2-3 visits back to the mainland each year. It is for sure a different lifestyle but surprisingly on the main island we have the same convieniences we have at home for the most part ( electricity, internet etc) .
The attraction of the Coral Coast is the mild weather being between Suva and Nadi (1-1/2 hours to either) some surfing nearby (Rivermouth,Hideaways and some other breaks a bit further east
including Frigates 1-1/2 hours by boat. The diving is also quite good I am told but I have not experienced it yet. This coming year I will have more time to really get into the activities more. There are also some nice resorts(Warick,Naviti) nearby when you want to get out for an evening or even golf.
