Hi,

Very soon i'll take my first trip to Fiji.  Exactly what do they require as "proof of sufficient funds" for entry?

Thanks!

I've never had that come up in 30 years except when I was staying for an extended period of time. They basically don't want visitors living off the locals so if the immigration authorities don't like what they see they'll want to check your finances. I wouldn't worry about this unless you plan to stay for a long period of time. Then you should be prepared to give them some proof that you can support yourself, ie travelers checks, etc.
Thanks, Robert. I'm actually staying for one month with an Indo-Fijian "second" family. If they ask i'll explain that to them, and i'll have some travelers checks as well.
The more money you have on hand the better--after all you don't have to spend it all. You don't want to give them a reason not to accept you.

Do you think 500 USD in travelers checks will be enough?
Bula Max, in all my trips to Fiji I have never been asked to show funds of any kind... sufficient or other wise... Just the fact you have an ongoing ticket is all they check for to the best of my knowledge...
