Would like to see videos on other destinations in Fiji if you have them. This is truly and interesting concept. As you say, straight from the horse's mouth...or something like that!
Thanks Rob

I got the idea a couple of months ago while on holidays at Octopus. I had a new camera so I took some video of guests. The site has just gone live a few days ago. So here I am, running it up the flag pole and seeing what's going to happen. I'm keen to go back to Fiji and take some more video, with better equipment, at other resorts. I'm not going to charge for it at this stage so it really is a great opportunity for resorts to get more exposure. Octopus is already at page 1 for a "holiday resort fiji" search on youtube and I haven't even got started on building links.

So, if you know any resort owners, who may be interested, then please let them know.

Cheers, Bruce.

I think it's a good idea. You just need some practice in editing and interview techniques. Off hand I can't think of any resort owners that would turn you down if you were there. I think you'd have to build a larger reputation before they would offer you a free room or a discount. best of luck

Yes Rob the interviews are a bit embarrassing for me. My new camera, Nikon D90, played up during the interviews and would stop recording after a couple of minutes. Unfortunately I couldn’t get enough video to edit and just had to run with a single take. You will notice most interviews stop abruptly. That’s when the camera crashed and unfortunately a lot of good info was not recorded.

It’s made me think though, in the future it might be a good idea to try to aim to do it all in a single take as I think this adds a lot of authenticity to the interview. Viewers can see that negative comments have not been edited out.

I have a chipper, smart, tall, stunning blond friend who is keen to do the interviewing in the future. She loves getting in front of the camera so I think it will look much better if I film her doing the interviews.

Currently, what I lack in interviewing style I’ll make up for in internet service. We’ve only been up and running for a week and YouTube tells me we’ve had about 500 views of our Octopus resort videos. Currently the Octopus resort page:

http://www.resortinterviews.com/octopus-resort-fiji/

gets an average of 15 unique visitor each day and I’m trying to find a way to measure how many of these visitors click on the links which take them to Octopus Resort homepage.

I’m estimating that within a couple of months well be sending at least 100 visitors per day to Octopus. Not bad for a free service.

Thanks for your help Rob.
It will be interesting to see what the next series of videos looks like. Keep at it!
Hi Rob

I've put a bit of work into it and now we are back with a new site, new interviewer and new resort. Check it out at: www.resortinterviews.com

Cheers, Bruce
Beautiful looking site...a small suggestion. You should have a search engine so that people can more easily look up properties.
Thanks for the tip Rob. We will certainly add a search function when we have enough resorts to make it necessary.

I like it, a LOT! Very cool concept. In fact I am amazed resorts haven't gone ahead and done this themselves and posted them on websites. I understand the impartial/3rd party endorsement of having another company do it, but still!

In fact quite amazing that sites like TripAdvisor don't do this... Maybe a suggestion for you would also to register at TripAdvsior and post the videos on the property pages there too???
Thanks for your encouragement Stuart. We are very excited about how it is all shaping up. Our Ning site is up and running now and we have started a monthly travel video competition. It's just for fun but there is a $100 prize at the end of every month for the best travel, vacation or resort related video. It should be pretty easy to win as there is only one contestant so far this month! So if you or anyone else on this site has taken some holday video all you need to do is upload it or hotlink it from Youtube at the following address: http://www.resortinterviews.com/contentpage.php?pgid=9 The only other contestant is 'Carpeduke'. You can check out his 'heavy metal' travel videos at: http://resortinterviews.ning.com/ GOOD LUCK!

Hi Rob

I had to take some time off Resort Interviews for a while but we are back on track now with new videos at two stunning resorts in Malaysia. I'm very happy with how the latest resort reviews have turned out. Check them out at:

http://resortinterviews.com/watchvideo/Shangri-La-Rasa-Ria-Resort-R...

and

http://resortinterviews.com/watchvideo/lankayan-island-dive-resort-...

The white water rafting video is my favorite.

I'm very keen to get back to Fiji so if you hear of any resorts who would like this type of video review then let me know!!!

Well done on a great site Rob! Fijiguide is excellent. We have also set up a ning site and are giving away $100 USD per month for the best travel review. So if you know of any budding travel wrtiters then send them our way.

Cheers,
